Emperor Hirohito's visit to Hiroshima in Kyodo News photo series

TOKYO, Japan - Emperor Hirohito responds to citizens in Hiroshima City on Dec. 7, 1947, on one of his visits to a number of places nationwide after the end of World War II. The photo is included in "The Chronicle," a 14-volume series of news photos tracing Japan's 70-year postwar history to be published by Kyodo News.
